City of Aberdeen and Link Solutions, Inc. to Host Information Technology and Cyber Security Career Fair

CITY OF ABERDEEN AND LINK SOLUTIONS, INC. TO HOST INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECURITY CAREER FAIR

The City of Aberdeen and Link Solutions, Inc. are hosting an Information Technology and Cyber Security Career Fair at the Bernard L. Tobin Post 128 on April 20, 2018. Our career fair will feature Aberdeen Proving Ground and the Defense Contractors who suppo1t the Army’s mission.

As Link Solutions, Inc. is a defense contractor within Aberdeen Proving Ground, we find challenges in hiring qualified candidates with specialized ce1tifications within Information Technology and Cyber Security. On top of the certifications, a secret or Top-Secret level security clearance is required to work for the Defense Community, which narrows the candidate pool even smaller.

Laura Thomas, Vice President of Link Solutions, Inc. stated, “Relocating employees from other States is costly, and is not helping the job seekers who already live in Harford County and neighboring Counties within the State.”

The City of Aberdeen and Link Solutions, Inc. saw the opportunity to bring qualified candidates directly to Aberdeen front and center of the Defense Community. Phyllis Grover, Director of Planning and Community Development, and Stefani Spector, Economic Development Assistant sought out the marketing to attain qualified candidates through Universities and Community Colleges, as well as cyber associated organizations. This brought forth an opportunity for the City to create relationships between Universities, Aberdeen Proving Ground, and the Defense Contracting Community.

Aberdeen Mayor, Patrick McGrady commented on the event, stating, “I am excited about the great relationship Aberdeen has developed with Aberdeen Proving Ground and the great opportunities that exist to share resources that will promote the APG Missions and benefit our Aberdeen Community.”

This Career Event will allow job seekers to have a direct interface with top hiring defense contractors. We will have industry and government representatives’ onsite to discuss the security clearance process as well. Register for our event on April 20, 2018 and see what APG has to offer!
