HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE INDUSTRY, AND WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE THIS PATh?

As an intelligence analyst in the military, I discovered my aptitude for this field. My passion for forensics led me to earn a degree in forensic cyber studies. Although the direction of my career was unclear, analyst roles can be either broad or niche, with few companies valuing those in between. Applying for jobs felt challenging, like walking a tightrope.

What advice do you have for women starting their careers?

Continue your studies and persist in your efforts. The right company will recognize your potential and view it as a beneficial step forward for the organization. You are a valuable asset. The appropriate recruiter has not yet come across your application, but that is perfectly fine! Keep submitting your resume and networking extensively. The fields of analysis and technology are vast yet closely connected. Eventually, everyone crosses paths.

HOw does Link support you in your professional goals?

I am working on CEUs to keep my CompTIA certifications active and meet requirements. Link Solutions offers up to $2,500 per year for job-related certifications, memberships, training, and tuition.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by my teammates and supervisor who are always coming up with new ideas and products. I am inspired by my husband and my dad, who both work in IT. I love bouncing ideas off them. My soon to be 16-year old labrador rI might sound a bit “basic”, as my kids say, but my children and family responsibilities are important to me. I aim to provide my children with opportunities that I did not have growing up. I strive to improve upon what my family achieved, setting them up for success as much as possible. My goal is for them to view home and their parents as a safe haven. I want them to recognize the results of hard work while understanding the additional effort required. I remind myself and my children that they are individuals with unique skills. Sometimes, others may not notice or appreciate their contributions.
